Explore Your Creativity at Sunday Art Studio
Looking for a relaxing way to spend a Sunday afternoon? Whether you’re an experienced crafter, an aspiring artist, or simply looking to try something new, Sunday Art Studio at the Carson City Library offers the perfect opportunity to create, learn, and connect with your community.
Held every other Sunday from 2:00–3:30 PM, Sunday Art Studio is a rotating series of hands-on art and craft workshops that celebrates creativity for all ages. Every session features a brand-new project, so there’s always something fresh to discover. From painting and paper crafts to home décor and specialty projects, each workshop is designed to inspire participants to explore new techniques while having fun in a welcoming and supportive environment.
A Program for Everyone
Sunday Art Studio alternates between two different audiences, making it easy for everyone in the community to find a session that’s right for them.
Kids & Family Art Studio
One session is designed especially for children and their families. These workshops encourage creativity, imagination, and quality time together as participants work side-by-side to complete fun, age-appropriate projects. Whether you’re creating a keepsake, building something imaginative, or experimenting with new materials, these family-friendly sessions are a wonderful way to spend an afternoon together.
Teen & Adult Art Studio
The following session is geared toward teens and adults who enjoy more detailed projects or want to explore new artistic techniques. These workshops provide a relaxing environment where participants can learn, create, and enjoy the satisfaction of making something by hand.
No artistic experience is necessary for either program. Whether you’ve been crafting for years or are trying something new for the very first time, everyone is welcome.
A New Creative Adventure Every Session
One of the things that makes Sunday Art Studio so popular is that every workshop is different.
Our staff love introducing participants to a wide variety of creative projects and artistic techniques. Previous crafts have included:
- Diamond art
- Candle making
- Popsicle stick bees
- Book art
- Paper castles
- Tin foil knights
- Seasonal decorations
- Holiday crafts
- Mixed media projects
- Decorative home décor
- And many more unique, hands-on creations
Some projects explore painting or sculpture, while others focus on paper crafting, recycled art, fantasy-inspired creations, or seasonal celebrations. Because each workshop features a brand-new project, you’ll always have something new to look forward to.
More Than Just Arts and Crafts
Sunday Art Studio is about more than taking home a finished project. It’s an opportunity to relax, express yourself, meet new people, and enjoy the creative process.
Research has shown that creative activities can reduce stress, improve problem-solving skills, boost confidence, and encourage mindfulness. Whether you’re spending the afternoon with your family, catching up with friends, or attending on your own, you’ll find a welcoming space where creativity is encouraged and everyone can enjoy making something unique.
Our knowledgeable library staff provide guidance throughout each workshop, making the experience enjoyable for beginners and experienced crafters alike.
Always Something New to Discover
Because projects change every session, Sunday Art Studio is a program you can enjoy again and again. One week you might be creating sparkling diamond art, while the next visit could have you building whimsical paper castles, crafting handmade candles, or designing a seasonal decoration for your home.
The possibilities are always changing, making every visit a new creative adventure.
