Julie Knight is a committed public servant with previous experience serving on boards and committees in the public and nonprofit sectors related to services for people with disabilities and education. Julie believes in the power of libraries to strengthen communities and is constantly looking for opportunities to support the library.
She was appointed to the Library Board of Trustees in August 2019. Her term expires June 2023.
Nick CranstonTrustee (Vice Chair)
Nicholas Cranston is an active member of our community. He works for the State of Nevada Public Employees’ Benefits program as an I.T. Professional and uses his knowledge of I.T. Security to assist the library. His hobbies are reading, cooking, and spending time outdoors. Nicholas is an avid believer that literature expands the way we think and betters the life of the reader.
He was appointed to the Library Board of Trustees in July 2018. His term expires June 2022.
Beth Lucas has been visiting the Carson City Library since childhood and believes our library is one of our community’s most valuable assets. After soaking up the library’s plentiful and free resources for several decades, she felt she wanted to contribute. When she’s not reading or enjoying being outdoors with her family, Beth is a Certified Public Accountant employed with Carson Tahoe Health.
She was appointed to serve on the Library Board of Trustees in November 2019 and reappointed in June 2020. Her term expires June 2024.
Betts has worked in a professional library capacity during her fourteen years in Nevada. First, at Sierra Nevada College as Library Director, then as Collection Development Librarian at the Nevada State Library. Her experience also includes past appointments to the Nevada Council for Libraries and Literacy. Recently retired for the second time, she hopes to contribute her knowledge and passion for libraries to the Carson City Library by working as a supporter and library advocate within the community. Betts believes that the resources provided by libraries are of critical importance to the educational growth and development of good citizenship and community participation. A lifelong reader and firm believer that one of the most important activities that parents can provide is reading aloud to their children on a regular basis beginning at birth.
She was appointed to the Library Board of Trustees in July 2021. Her term expires June 2025.
Sari Nichols is a staunch believer in community service. She has served on several committees and school boards. She works for the state of Nevada as the Program Officer for the Nevada Indian Commission. Sari has been a lifelong reader and has supported the Carson City Library since 2004, first as a volunteer, and now as a library Trustee. Sari holds a Master’s in Literature and believes libraries are doorways to traditional and non-traditional education.
She was appointed to serve on the Library Board of Trustees in July 2021. Her term expires June 2025.
