The Carson City Library building is open to the public. Per the Governor’s announcement on July 27, 2021, masks will be required at all times while in the library. Please help us stay open and wear a mask when you visit the library.

What’s Available

  • Browse and check out books and other items in the library.
  • Periodicals for reference and checkout are available on the first floor.
  • Limited computer access is available. A Carson City Library card is needed to sign in to computers.
  • Mobile printing and printing from express computers are available on the first floor.
  • Participate in our virtual programs wherever you are.
  • Access the library’s digital resources and our OverDrive ebooks, audiobooks and streaming video at home or on the go.
  • WiFi is on in the library and can also be used in areas of the parking lot close to the building.

Book Locker

The library’s new self-check book locker is available for after-hours or no-contact holds pickup.

  • Visit the library’s online catalog to place your holds.
  •  Select “Carson City Book Locker” as your pickup library branch. You will get a notification once your items are available to pick up.
  • The lockers are located next to the front door of the library. To pick up items held in the locker, simply scan your library card or use the touch screen to enter the number, and the machine will check out your items and open the locker.
  • For help with placing holds, contact the front desk of the library at 775-283-7590.

Things to Know

  • Items may be returned to the outside book drops at the front of the building and back drive-through 24 hours a day. Please only use these bins for library materials. Contact the Friends of the Carson City Library at the Browsers Corner Bookstore regarding book donations.
  • As always, the Carson City Library does not charge overdue fines.
  • Check our calendar for current hours and information on virtual programs.
