This March, the library celebrated Read Across America with a full month of activities designed to inspire a love of reading in all ages. From interactive challenges to community connections, we invited everyone to explore stories from coast to coast.
March Scavenger Hunt: 50 States
All month long, visitors took part in our 50 States Scavenger Hunt, searching the library for clues representing each state across the country. This fun and educational activity encouraged participants to explore the library while learning more about the diverse places that make up the United States. It was a great way to combine movement, discovery, and reading all in one adventure.
Read Across America Day Reading Tracker
To celebrate Read Across America Day, we launched a special Reading Tracker to help readers set goals and build strong reading habits. Whether participants read for a few minutes a day or dove into longer sessions, the tracker provided a simple and motivating way to stay engaged and celebrate progress throughout the month.
Virtual Storytime Collaboration
One of the highlights of the month was our Virtual Storytime, created in partnership with another library. This collaborative program brought together
readers from different communities to share stories, songs, and smiles. It was a wonderful reminder that stories can connect us no matter where we are.
Off The Shelf Book Club: Travels with Charley
Our Off The Shelf Book Club took a literary road trip with Travels with Charley by John Steinbeck. Readers followed Steinbeck’s journey across America, sparking thoughtful discussions about place, identity, and the changing landscape of the country. It was the perfect selection to complement our Read Across America theme.
A Month of Reading and Connection
From scavenger hunts to shared stories, Read Across America Month was filled with opportunities to explore, learn, and grow through reading. We loved seeing our community come together to celebrate books and look forward to continuing the journey with even more programs throughout the year.
