This year’s Nevada Reading Week was a true celebration of curiosity, imagination, and the joy of reading. With the theme of adventure guiding the way, our library invited the community to explore new worlds, discover local stories, and connect through shared experiences.
Adventure Backpacks Take Readers on a Journey
One of the highlights of the week was our Adventure Backpacks, which quickly became a favorite among patrons. Each backpack was filled with themed books and activities designed to spark exploration and creativity. Whether families were diving into the outdoors, solving mysteries, or traveling through fantastical lands, these backpacks made it easy to take the adventure home.
Author Talk with Sue Norman
We were thrilled to welcome local author Sue Norman for a special talk during Nevada Reading Week. Attendees had the opportunity to hear about her writing process, inspirations, and connection to Nevada. Programs like this help bring stories to life and show readers that authors are part of our own community.
Birds of Nevada: A Virtual Aviary Experience
Our Birds of Nevada: Virtual Aviary program gave participants a chance to explore the incredible bird species found right here in our state. Through an engaging and interactive presentation, attendees learned about local wildlife and the importance of protecting Nevada’s natural habitats—proving that adventure can be found just outside our doors.
Bringing the Library to Fremont Elementary
Nevada Reading Week wouldn’t be complete without connecting with our youngest readers. During our visit to Fremont Elementary School, library staff shared stories, promoted reading resources, and encouraged students to see reading as an exciting and empowering adventure. These outreach visits are a cornerstone of our mission to inspire lifelong readers.
